I’m Imani Breaker, leadership coach, pattern disruptor, and founder of The Breaker Mindset.
If you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been lurking quietly, I see you. And if you’ve worked with me before, you’ll notice something different. (Spoiler: it’s intentional.)
This isn’t just a relaunch. It’s a reclamation. A nod to Jay-Z’s blueprint, paired with a reminder to brush your shoulders off.
WHY I'M WRITING THIS
Because I’ve spent the last season rebuilding. Not just my brand, but my frameworks, my voice, and the way I show up for leaders who are ready to lead with intention (and maybe a little irreverence).
I’ve seen too many brilliant minds stuck in surface-level coaching, boxed into frameworks that don’t meet them where they are. That’s not how I work. I meet leaders in the complexity, the nuance, and the truth of who they are, and help them lead from there. No fluff. No performative pep talks. Just real, resonant growth.
WHY I GOT INTO COACHING
I got into coaching the way some people find music or movement, by following the pull of something deeper. I’d spent years leading teams, building strategies, and navigating complexity. But what lit me up wasn’t the metrics. It was the moments when someone saw themselves clearly, maybe for the first time. Coaching became my way of holding up that mirror. Of helping leaders remember who they are and choose how they want to lead.
WHAT's NEW
The Breaker Mindset is evolving. Here’s what you can expect:
A refreshed brand and website that reflects the clarity and depth of my work.
New tools for behavioral insight and emotionally intelligent leadership.
A blog that doesn’t just inform. It provokes, affirms, and occasionally throws a well-placed elbow at outdated norms.
WHAT HASN'T CHANGED
My commitment to helping leaders disrupt patterns that no longer serve them. My belief is that emotional intelligence isn’t a soft skill. It’s a strategic advantage. And my refusal to coach anyone into becoming a polished version of someone they’re not. We’re not here to perform leadership. We’re here to practice it.
WHAT'S NEXT
This is a work in progress. An evolving space where we learn and grow together. I’ll share what’s emerging, what’s shifting, and what’s still being shaped. You’re invited into that process.
This blog is a space for clarity, courage, and conversation. You’ll find essays, reflections, and practical tools for leading with intention. Expect warmth and wit. Expect to be seen, supported, and challenged with care.
If you’re ready to lead differently, with integrity, with nuance, and with a mindset built to break what’s broken, I’m here.
Let’s begin.
